I’ve been blessed to see my art licensed on many fabulous products for over 10 years. I love what I do: I paint, I design, I make things, I resalvage and recycle, I decorate, I cook, I entertain, I sing, I practice yoga and I grow vegetables in my back yard – all very imperfectly. I love creating whimsical art and at the same time, I love to create sophisticated design. My hope in my work is to create designs and illustrations that are fresh, sophisticated and fun.
I’ve lived in New York City longer than in Scotland where I grew up, but I’m happy to say that my Scottish accent is still often misunderstood. I came for “two years” to work as a textile designer in the garment district and now over twenty years later, I’m deeply rooted here with my New Yorker husband Elliott and our two scrumptious boys Eli and Jules. Over the years I’ve had extensive experience working in different areas of design as a designer and art director and I’m thrilled to be bringing all that experience into my own company.
I have a fantastic studio that overlooks the breathtaking New York skyline. I count my blessings that I get to live this fabulous life. I try to remind myself every day to bring to the world what is uniquely me, to keep my head in the journey and not in the destination, to keep my priorities intact because my kids are going to grow out of hugging sooner than I’d like to think and to keep breathing because the ride gets kind of crazy sometimes.
I’m forever striving for the (unachievable) goal of a balanced life. I’m passionate about parenting, women’s issues, equality, the environment, trying to nurture myself spiritually, physically and emotionally, and of course I’m passionate about my fabulous hubby who has gracefully learned to duck and cover when I’m in a creative block…
